Following the tradition that began with the establishment of our I-CORE, the LINKS Community meets again for a fascinating encounter of two consecutive days during which lectures, workshops and meetings will be held.

The research group functions as a community net lab focusing on the ways that clearly defined (primordial) communities (re)form social boundaries through the use of new media (i.e. the Internet, mobile communication) and knowledge that is constructed online.

Deby is a Post Doctoral researcher in the LINKS initiative affiliated with the Technology in Education program at the University of Haifa. She has a background in sociology and is a graduate of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at the Hebrew University. In her research, Deby focuses on ethnic communities, voluntary organizations and ethnographic methods. Through the LINKS initiative, she is currently collaborating with Dr. Oren Golan in a study on Filipino migrant workers in Israel and their use of social network services (i.e. Facebook).
