    Dr. Shira Soffer-Vital

    I am a postdoctoral research fellow at Ben Gurion University of the Negev. My research interests are in the learning sciences. Specifically, I am interested in learning and teaching in a networked society and technology enhanced communities, as well as epistemic thinking, reasoning processes, motivation, achievement goals, argumentation and conceptual learning.

    My research is conducted in collaboration with Dr. Iris Tabak from Ben Gurion University of the Negev and Dr. Sarit Barzilai from University of Haifa. My research examines epistemic thinking and motivation in evidence-based reasoning processes with multiple information sources in health decision making.  

    I hold a bachelors degree in education and Arabic language & literature (magna cum laude), a master's degree in education, specializing in curriculum development and learning processes (magna cum laude), high school teaching certificate (with distinction) and doctoral degree in education. All from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

    I have worked in various positions in the education and teaching arena: Teaching in several high schools, instructing and coaching teachers, developing curriculum units, serving as a pedagogical coordinator and adjunct lecturer for academic writing in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
